For the second time in two summers, northwest Wisconsin was hit with devastating flash flooding. Rounds of strong to severe storms trained over the same locations from Friday through Sunday, dropping anywhere from 6 to 15 inches of rain!
Road washout in McMillan
Drummond, WI, in Bayfield county, had the most rain at 15.04″. It’s also no surprise the highest totals in our area came in Ashland and Iron counties, where generally 5-8″ of rain fell. Unfortunately this did cause some road and culvert washouts near the similar locations that saw the devastating flash floods on July 11, 2016 after 10-12″ of rain fell in about six hours.

The highest recorded total in our area was 8.32″ in Gile in Iron county. Other totals in our area include:

- Wisconsin Rapids: 4.27″
- Shawano: 4.14″
- Plover: 3.89″
